Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the Catholic Church’s way of introducing herself to interested inquirers. For those who wish to pursue full membership it becomes an ongoing process whereby they are initiated into the church community and sacramental life. It is also a personal journey in which the candidates look at their own relationship with God.

RCIA is for those persons who:
- Have no church
- Have never been baptized
- Wish to come into FULL communion with the church from another Christian tradition
- Are Catholics who have been baptized but HAVE NOT received Confirmation and Eucharist.

Inquiry sessions are being held Wednesdays, at 7 PM in the Parish Hall. If you are interested in the RCIA process or have questions, please contact Sr. Teresa McShane at 655-4161 for further information.

St. Angela Merici 11th Annual Charity Dinner & Auction with Golf is coming soon, September 5, 2008, at Rancho Canada Golf Club, Carmel Valley. Watch the bulletin for more information.

A special member of our St Angela family, Ellen Sweigert, has been recently diagnosed with leukemia. A website has been created for Ellen through CaringBridge, a nonprofit organization that helps friends and families stay connected. You can visit Ellen's CaringBridge site at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/ellensweigert.
Please visit her CaringBridge site anytime. You can use the site to check in on Ellen, read the journal entries and send the family messages by signing her guestbook. When you register with CaringBridge and sign her guestbook, you will automatically receive e-mail notifications each time her journal is updated. Also, you can subscribe to receive these notifications even before you sign the guestbook. (Of course, you can unsubscribe from these e-mail updates at any time.)

Our Pacific Grove St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store needs some more committed volunteers. This would involve a morning or an afternoon weekly or bi-weekly, on a day of your choice. Fridays and Saturdays are our hardest time slot to fill. Join our cheerful group of volunteers with all our proceeds going to help the needy in the community. Call the store (642-9387) or stop by 214 Forest Avenue for more information.

Looking for a Way to Help the Needy? Our Parish Food Cupboard needs help with our ministry to the poor and we are appealing to parishioners to volunteer. We have been distributing food to the needy from the Victorian House every weekday for 17 years. Our volunteer ranks have thinned in this past year and we need two or three more committed persons. Would you consider becoming a Food Cupboard Bag Filler? We sort donated food in the Rectory garage and fill bags with non-perishable food and bring them over to the Parish Food Cupboard in the Victorian House to be given to families and the homeless. You and two other volunteers would make up a team that works every fifth week to do this. It involves an hour or so three or four days during that week. We think you would find this a very rewarding and interesting way to help others. Please consider helping out! Training is provided. Call Pat at 372-6942 for more information.

Altar Care Ministry in Need of Volunteers. The Altar Care Ministry is composed of people who devote their time and talents in a very special way by maintaining the altar, sanctuary & sacristy and the care of vestments, altar cloths, plants, flowers, etc. If you can spare a couple of hours of your time and are interested in becoming a part of this extremely important ministry, please call Tina or Geri at the parish office, 655-4160.
